Business Process Discovery services

Business Process Discovery service creates a detail presentation of the current business processes. The information about existing processes is typically not readily available and the discovery phase is often bypassed in projects in favor of the future process ideas. However, much can be learned about existing business processes that can impact the ability of the new process to be adapted by the process participants. One of the key reasons this phase is bypassed is the amount of time it takes and how hard it is to get the necessary level of details.

MyProcessAnalyst.com follows a proven methodology that allows our process analysts to capture process information quickly and efficiently. Our analysts follow the same standard script to interview process participants in your organization, using modern toolset and performing this work via the internet and phone. All interviews run in one on one format, where a person actually performing the process provides information on the tasks he or she performs every day. Using our remote setup saves your business a lot of time and expenses while getting superior output.

Before we start the actual discovery process, we quickly build the right context for processes in question. For example, if the scope is around order management process, we prepare high level outline typically applicable for a company in this industry.  As a preparation to the interview we will send you a questionnaire that helps understand such basic questions as  - what is the current challege your are facing in this process, what roles participate in process execution, which applications are used in this process etc. This allows us to get to the actual discovery very quickly.

Typical business process discovery interview flow will consist of the following repeating questions to the process participants:
  • What triggers this specific process
  • What is the first process step triggered by this input
  • Are there any more triggers that can start this process
  • What output is created as a result of performing this step
  • Who performs this step, are there any IT applications used to perform this step
  • How often is this step performed during one day/week/month
  • Can you identify any business or technical challenges related to this specific step in the process
  • What can be done to resovle these challenges
  • Are there any measurements taken in this steps (Performance Indicators)
  • How much Time does it take to perform this step
  • Please describe what happens in this step (Notes)
  • Do you know where the outcome of this step is used further in the process

The resulting process description is a powerful tool to analyse and improve the process.
